live for 5am sunrises and 5pm sunsets

March 23, 2015 in inspired

I posted this image and and the quote, separately, on Facebook the other day and a friend commented she came back just to copy down the quote. I figured I'd put the quote on the image this time to make it easier to save or share. I don't usually, but, why not? I have a whole board in Pinterest dedicated to quotes, probably you do too.

By mid-February, the long, dark Alaskan winter had taken its toll, and I'm told it was a mild winter. Still, this quote (I'm not exactly sure who A.Y. is) was so exactly what our recent trip to California-Arizona-Nevada was all about. We spent two and a half much-needed weeks road-tripping in the lower 48. We saw loved ones -- both sets of grandparents, one of my dearest oldest friends, and both my brother- and sister-in-law. We did some theme parks, true, but my very favorite moments were right here on this beach. Laguna Beach. The boys were entranced by the spell of the ocean, even when they were shivering cold, they didn't want to leave. And I didn't either. The sunset went on and on and on in ever more amazing colors. We woke to the sound of crashing waves, and fell asleep to same lullaby.
